TwitBacks is a Flying Twitterling

Being a part of the lead story on BusinessWeek.com is not something that we take lightly, in fact, we’re thrilled! The thanks we continually get from our users has been such an encouragement, and with recognition from such an established news source, we are even more grateful. In the story, titled “The Fragile Flight of the Twitterlings” , BusinessWeek.com explores 18 different Twitter applications that rely on Twitter’s success to be the wind in their sails. TwitBacks.com is one of them.

Examining the advantages and challenges of being a business who’s rise or fall depends largely on the success or failure of another entity, this article is an interesting read with varying perspectives. A slideshow entitled “Twitter’s Growing Ecosystem” accompanies the article, highlighting the business plan of each Twitter application. The feature recognizes the value TwitBacks offers, saying,

“Instead of filling this space [Twitter profile background] with a pretty picture, many people choose to turn it into a personal business card, displaying information about where they work and where else they can be found on the Web.”

While TwitBacks.com offers free branded backgrounds (and always will), the BusinessWeek.com feature also mentions our Promote Profile service, which offers online exposure for your services and Twitter profile.

We Were Buzzing on TwitScoop

On November 29th, the morning after our launch, we were a (softly) buzzing topic on Twitter. Since we thought that was pretty great, we took a screenshot from TweetDeck (another cool Twitter tool). Okay, this is really not that big a deal, but for us it was quite awesome. Thanks for talking about us!

Awesome First Week

Since we released TwitBacks a little over a week ago, the response has been awesome! While we knew we had something cool, to see others feel the same way such a short time after launch has been absolutely overwhelming (in a good way).

As of today, over 2,200 “backs” have been created, @twitbacks has received over 600 followers on Twitter, and we’ve been covered on the web by Harrison Hoffman at CNET news, Darren Rowse’s new TwiTip blog (special thanks to @rileykaminer for writing the review), and over at Killer Startups, just to name a few. Not bad for the first week out!

We are truly humbled and want to thank everyone for their feedback and awesome support. You’ve all made this so much fun!
