TwitBacks 2009 Year In Review

Ever heard of a little thing called “Twitter”? While our Go Smart Solutions professional services keep us plenty busy, we also like to take on fun side projects every now and again, which is how TwitBacks was born. While we initially launched TwitBacks near the end of 2008, it took on a life of its own in 2009, spreading across the Twitterverse and growing every day in popularity. Since it has launched, there have been 166,700 backgrounds created by over 152,000 members.

TwitBacks was the first to offer branded, customizable backgrounds for your Twitter profile. Using the service, anyone can create a unique Twitter background with their contact info, photo, company logo and more — for free!

TwitBacks offers tons of professionally designed backgrounds and also allows you to upload a background of your own.

Great use of our Twitter background customizer

We see lots of cool Twitter backgrounds being created with our custom background creator.  Many who use our service use our pre-designed templates and don’t even realize we offer the customizer.  We are often surprised ourselves when we see some of the very nice color combinations our TwitBacks members use when creating their backgrounds with our customizer.  One recent background that caught our eye is from @frugalisfab.  Nicole chose colors that match her logo well.  Her background is clean and reflects her branding.

Twitter Trending Topic Spam

Today I am left wondering… How effective are Twitter trending topics? Trending topics used to be a place to look for the latest news, events, or information on a specific topic. Lately, it seems to be more of a place where spammers hang out and hijack the trending topics. Now, when viewing any given trending topic you are presented with irrelevant information and spam from people who are attempting to get their message seen by riding on the popularity of the trending topic.

These spammers are stuffing the end of their tweets with multiple trending topics and they are over taking the Twitter trending topic stream.

Is this another one of those good things that are going bad?  Do all good things really have to come to an end?

Go away Twitter trending topic spammers.  Go away!

New Pattern Twitter Backgrounds

TwitBacks has added a few new pattern twitter backgrounds to our growing library of free twitter backgrounds.  We have added a flames twitter background, a rock wall twitter background and a wood panel twitter background.

   

Don’t forget – we allow you to brand our backgrounds with your contact information, logo, photo, links, etc. and then upload the branded background to your Twitter profile for free.

Twitter suspending accounts infected by Koobface

Twitter has unfortunately been the latest victim of the Koobface malware.  If your Twitter account has been hacked by this virus your account will send bogus tweets when logging in .  You can keep updated about this on Twitter status at http://status.twitter.com/post/138789881/koobface-malware-attack
